I have to admit that I have another obsession apart from sewing and that is soap making. I just love it end enjoy the process of making the soap. It start such a creative process in my brain, how to combine different essential oils and vegetable oils to get the right smell and smoothness of the soap.
So far I’ve made soaps from given prescriptions and it has worked out fine. I’ve made a few changes to the essential oils and had a few combinations that have been really great for instance the orange and clove or the INCI name Eugenia caryophyllus bud oil or the combinations of , Frankincense May Change and Orange, Frankinscence May Chang and Lemone, Frankiencense Orange and Atlasceder or Lemone Ylang Ylang and Vetiver. For this soap in the photo I have used Olive oil and Evening rose oil as this oil is good to eczema. I’ve also white and green Kaolin clay and chamomile extract.
I’ve also made lip balm, hand cream and schampoo cakes.
To the lip balm I’ve made I’ve used jojoba oil and almond oil which is the last I made, one part neutral and one part with a touch of peppermint.
In February I decided to make hand cream/body lotion as my hands got so dry and my nails got in a bad condition. After have looked at different prescription I decided to go for a cream with Cocoa butter, Jojoba oil, Macadamia oil with a fragrance of Frankincense, Bergamot and lavender. The second one I made I used Mango butter, Argan oil and Bakuchiol with a fragrance of Ylang Ylang, Bergamot and Palmarose, I love this fragrance combination and the other one has grown over time. I made a third to my sister that has atopic ezcema for this I choose and other prescription, it has Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Almond oil and Evening primrose oil, the fragrance for this one is Vetiver, Ylang Ylang, May Chang and Lemone.
An other thing that is both fun and easy to do is schampoo cakes, by now I have made a few. There is one ingredient that is difficult to work with and that is ISC – Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate if you buy a small amount as you will have to grind it by yourself, if you buy it in a little bigger amount it’s already done and then you have no problem to handle it. The last cakes I made was for my sister and I used the Evening rose oil, white and green kaolin clay added some chamomile extract. The fragrance is once again Frankincense, May Chang and Lemone.
Here is my skincare kit I sent to my sister that contains soaps, lip balm, schampoo cakes and face cream/hand cream. I hope she will enjoy it and that it will be good for her eczema.
All products that I have used are bought from Organic Makers in Sweden.
